SRKW calls detected by humans and machines last night on the Orcasound Lab
hydrophones:
Humans tagged the live stream from 00:38-00:40 Pacific on Mon 3/13/23.
The OrcaHello AI detected SRKW calls from 23:46 on 3/12 until 01:04 on
3/13. Four 60-s candidates can be reviewed as spectrograms and recordings
here -- https://aifororcas.azurewebsites.net/detections/confirmed -- or via
the appended direct links.
J pod is inferred not only from the predominant call types (S01, S04), but
also from earlier acoustic and visual detections on Sunday 3/12 by the
Whale Sightings in the San Juan Islands and Orca Network Facebook groups.
The earlier positions to the south nearing Discover Island (see Acartia.io)
suggest the pod may have been northbound during this bout which occurred
during slack tide based on the nearby current predictions for Kellett Bluff

Happy listening,
