Nice assessment, Joe.
I think though that Scott and Meg may have got it right. I have heard these
types of grunts from Stellar sea lions before in air but not underwater.
Could also be a male harbor seal grunt. They are more likely to produce
sounds underwater. Unless of course it is a killer whale imitating a sea
lion. We have to ask Andy Foote about this :-)
